Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Brings a 200MP Camera, Huge 8,800mAh Battery and ARRI-Inspired Design
Honor has officially launched the Magic 9 Pro Max in China, bringing a redesigned camera system, a massive battery, and new video features developed with professional cinema camera company ARRI.
The latest flagship smartphone from Honor is designed to appeal to users who prioritize mobile photography and video recording, while also offering the endurance expected from a modern premium smartphone.
One of the biggest highlights is its 8,800mAh battery, paired with a high-resolution camera setup that includes two 200MP sensors.
Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Gets a New Camera Design
The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max introduces a noticeably larger camera module on the back of the phone.
The design takes inspiration from classic ARRI film cameras, particularly the distinctive three-lens turret design associated with the Arriflex 35 film camera introduced in the 1930s.
Honor has also added a textured finish around the primary camera lens, giving the camera housing a more distinctive appearance.

The Magic 9 Pro Max features an impressive camera setup built around high-resolution sensors.
The main camera uses a 200-megapixel sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches, while the 3.5x telephoto camera also features a 200MP sensor, although it uses a smaller 1/1.4-inch sensor.
The camera system is completed by a 50MP ultrawide camera.
This combination gives the phone plenty of flexibility for everyday photography, wide-angle shots, and zoom photography.
The ultrawide camera doesn't support every ARRI Cinema Mode feature, but the main and telephoto cameras benefit from the new professional video-focused features.
ARRI Brings Professional Video Features to Honor's Flagship
The Magic 9 Pro Max is Honor's first major flagship smartphone following its partnership announcement with ARRI.
One of the most notable additions is support for ARRI LogC3, which is designed to provide greater flexibility when color grading video footage.
The phone also includes 14 ARRI Look LUTs, while users can access a broader collection of official and third-party LUTs.
For creators who want more control over their footage, the smartphone also supports the APV 10-bit 4:2:2 codec.
Honor has further equipped the phone with a directional microphone designed for higher-quality video recording.

Under the hood, the Magic 9 Pro Max is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.
Interestingly, the phone doesn't take advantage of every video capability associated with the chip. For example, it doesn't support 8K recording at 60 frames per second or 4K recording at 240fps.
Honor says the decision to use the Extreme version of the processor was intended to provide a consistent flagship experience rather than simply chase benchmark numbers.
Optional Camera and Video Accessories
Honor is also expanding the Magic 9 Pro Max's photography ecosystem with optional accessories.
The phone supports Honor's G200 and G500 teleconverter lenses, which can provide additional reach for users who want to experiment with longer focal lengths.
There is also a dedicated SmallRig video kit, giving creators additional options for mounting and handling the phone while recording.
Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Colors
The smartphone is launching in several finishes, including a distinctive moss green, as well as black and silver options.
